What is Digital Humanities?

Digital humanities is an interdisciplinary field that uses digital tools and methods to explore human culture, history, language, literature, religion, and society. In the words of Johanna Drucker, “Digital Humanities work is done at the intersection of computational methods and humanities materials.” Digital humanities projects involve mapping, data visualization, text analysis, digital exhibits, storytelling platforms, archives, and other forms of digital scholarship. 

At Baylor, we approach digital humanities as a practical and adaptable set of tools that can help teachers achieve learning goals, enable students to engage in meaningful research, and empower scholars to share their work in new and creative ways.
