About
DH in the Classroom is one of the signature initiatives of the DHI. Grounded in the belief that digital tools can help teachers meet their learning objectives, this program helps instructors incorporate digital humanities resources into their teaching in practical and effective ways.
Digital humanities tools can encourage students to engage critically with information, develop new research skills, and communicate their ideas through a variety of digital formats. They are often easily accessible and helpful in providing new and different perspectives on course-related materials and content.
The DH in the Classroom initiative is manifested in three main activities that the DHI engages in:
- Digital Humanities Workshops. Affiliate faculty and the DHI's co-directors lead teaching-related workshops on digital tools, platforms, and processes. The DHI also sponsors and brings outside speakers to Baylor to share their expertise in digitally informed pedagogy.
- Digital Humanities Consultations. The co-directors provide consultations with faculty members interested in integrating digital tools into their classes.
- Digital Humanities Resources. The DHI website provides a list of resources that are useful for teaching. The DHI's newsletter also includes regular articles about tools, digital repositories, and much more.
